Legendary striker Gabriel Omar Batistuta is in good shape after dealing with knee problems in previous years. He commented on Serie A and his former teams to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I like Atalanta and Udinese a lot, as they attack and pursue the victory in every possible way. They try to score with many players. Napoli play great football too. I consider them one of the favorites along with Milan.”
“I appreciate Vincenzo Italiano and his ideas. He has strong beliefs and works on them. Fiorentina are coming off a nice season, but maybe the don’t have the right men in key roles now. Luka Jovic doesn’t seem like a true no.9 to me, but rather a second striker. He lacks the killer instinct of great center-forwards. Nicolas Gonzalez has incredible skills and should play all the time. He has rare qualities.”
Batistuta would like to return to the Viola as an executive.
“The bond I have with the city is very strong. I’ve grown as a player and as a man there. I think I’m ready for a new experience. There hasn’t been the right opportunity to do it yet. I think they need a charismatic figure like Javier Zanetti at Inter and Paolo Maldini at Milan. Roma should hire Francesco Totti. You need more than results for a team to function properly. Emotions, communication and the relationship with the fans matter too. The top players of the past can help with that.”
Batistuta dished on Inter too.
“I didn’t do as well as I hoped with them due to injuries, and I’m sorry for it. But I repaid them when they asked me for advice on Lautaro Martinez, and I wasn’t wrong.”
