Coach Fonseca Discloses Final Transfer Plans for Milan

Paulo Fonseca didn’t beat around the bush when quizzed about his expectations for the final stretch of the window. He spoke to Tuttomercatoweb after the Silvio Berlusconi trophy against Monza, the final friendly of the summer.

“We’re missing just one man from the market. All the other ones we wanted are already here with us. I have to confess that we must sell somebody. As for Pierre Kalulu, we’re mulling what’s best for the team and the player. The holding midfielder we want is Youssouf Fofana, everybody knows it.”

Fonseca heaped praise on Luka Jovic and Alexis Saelemaekers.

“I wasn’t familiar with the Serb well beforehand. He surprised me in the last few weeks. He can help the team operating in the box. I’ve liked him a lot. It’s my first time working with the latter. They are telling me that he’s different form the past. I don’t know if that’s true, but I appreciate him. He can play in multiple roles and always fares well. He makes good choices when he has the ball. I want him to stay.”

Fonseca took stock of the strong summer by Milan.

“Everybody has something to prove. There have been many positive things, but we can do a lot better. We’re just getting started, and I expect more from every player. It was our first match in front of our fans, and the impact was very good. We’re starting to see our style. We want to dominate on the pitch.”
