Juventus and Roma will lock horns in one of the most exciting fixtures in the Serie A calendar on Sunday night. Bianconeri boss Thiago Motta delivered a comprehensive squad update in the pre-game conference, addressing the futures of several out-of-favor first-team stars.
Arthur Melo, Filip Kostic, and Tiago Djalo were supposed to leave Juventus this summer. However, the trio will likely stay put, with the latter’s deadline-day transfer to Roma collapsing at the 11th hour. Though they should have almost no space in the team, Motta maintains they’re all part of the squad.
“Djalo, Kostic, and Arthur are all part of Juventus. The outgoing market is still open. Our maximum concentration is on Roma,” Motta said, as relayed by TMW. “I’m happy with the market because we’ve brought in strong players, who will compete in a strong team. The new guys will become available, I am very happy.
“All the guys who have arrived, also Koop, have made a big effort to be here. They are guys who have put all their talent at the team’s disposal and always give their best.
“Tomorrow we face a strong and determined team. The stadium will be full and we have prepared well and enthusiastically. Everyone is ready, it will be a great match.“
Juventus have gone from strength to strength during Motta’s early tenure. They’ve opened the season with back-to-back 3-0 victories against promoted Como and last year’s relegation fighters Hellas Verona, announcing their candidacy for the Scudetto.
