Juventus Make Decision on Paul Pogba Future After Reduced Sentence

Pogba Pogba will return to football fields sooner than expected, but he may not necessarily do it in the Juventus shirt. According to Calciomercato’s update, the record-time Italian champions are not enthusiastic about welcoming the French playmaker back to the squad.
Pogba’s career was hanging by a thread until yesterday. After being found guilty of drug abuse earlier this year, the troubled Juventus midfielder received a Draconian four-year ban from football. However, his appeal to the European Court of Arbitration for Sport has come to fruition.
The court reduced his sentence to 18 months, meaning he’ll effectively return to the pitch in March 2025. As promising as that sounds for the 31-year-old, Juventus could still decide to escort their forgotten superstar away from Turin as early as January.
Per Calciomercato, terminating Pogba’s contract by mutual consent could benefit both parties. Despite being the club’s joint-highest earner with Dusan Vlahovic, Pogba has only received the thinnest portion of his eye-watering €10m-a-season wages during his lengthy spell on the sidelines.
If reports in Italy are valid, Juventus have been paying the ex-Manchester United talisman a meager €2,000 per month during his suspension. In his absence, Turin has witnessed a rise of new heroes in Pogba’s position. Marquee summer signing Teun Koopmeiners has established himself as an indispensable first-team choice for new manager Thiago Motta.
In addition to the Dutchman, Kenan Yildiz can operate as an advanced playmaker. The same goes for Douglas Luiz, who seems to be finding his footing at Juventus following a lackluster start.
There’s still plenty of time for Juventus and Pogba to decide whether to continue together. But a divorce looks like a more realistic option.
