Paris Saint-Germain Set Sights on Inter Superstar With Affordable Release Clause

Inter talisman Marcus Thuram reportedly ranks high on Paris Saint-Germain’s list of targets for the next summer transfer window. According to Calciomercato, Thuram’s release clause has drawn Les Parisiens’ attention.

The 27-year-old striker joined Inter as a free agent in the summer of 2023 after his contract at Borussia Monchengladbach ran out. The Nerazzurri handed the France international a lucrative five-year deal until June 2028. However, they made one crucial mistake.

Indeed, Thuram’s contract at Inter contains a release clause set at €90 million. Given the inflated price tags in today’s market, that’s almost a bargain fee for a player of his caliber. And Luis Enrique’s men are keen to make the reigning Scudetto holders pay.

PSG could bypass protracted negotiations with Inter if they decide to move for Thuram. Activating his release clause would leave Simone Inzaghi’s team powerless. Therefore, the only thing that could save the Nerazzurri is the player’s will.

Thuram has gone from strength to strength at Giuseppe Meazza. His formidable attacking partnership with Lautaro Martinez forged the backbone of Inter’s 20th Serie A title last term. Unlike the Inter captain, the Frenchman has flown out of the traps this season.

With seven goals after as many league rounds, the Inter superstar is Serie A’s joint-top scorer alongside Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui. Thuram’s purple patch in Italy could deter him from accepting a return to his homeland. Yet, PSG would likely offer him a truckload of money to convince him to switch to Paris.
