Serie A Round Recap: Fiorentina Hold Inter, Lazio Send Message

In a week where Aurelio De Laurentiis outdid himself, Inter managed to fall out of the Champions League despite playing Barcelona’s combined, almost B-Team, and Lazio managed to keep up with the leading pack, it’s been an entertaining seven days in Belpaese. Let's take a look at what happened in last weekend's Serie A match-ups.

Rifinitura: Milan Celebrate Birthday as Genoa Host Derby

After some bitter-sweet results by Italian clubs in the mid-week European competitions, we turn our focus to this weekend’s Round 16 of Serie A, which includes some exciting match-ups in the week of Milan's celebration of their 120th anniversary. The famously-dubbed Derby della Lanterna between Genoa and Sampdoria will be the main course of the program.

Serie A Round Recap: Can Lazio Be Third Wheel Between Juve, Inter?

An entertaining football weekend in Italy was overshadowed by Corriere dello Sport's unfortunate headline introducing match-clou Inter-Roma. Antonio Conte's men couldn't take advantage of the Giallorossi’s disconnected performance and the game ended in a goalless draw, while Simone Inzaghi's Lazio extended their string of good results.

Rifinitura: Inter, Roma Share Spoils as Sinisa Makes Comeback

This week's Serie A match program promises to have some mouth-watering clashes, despite the biggest game of the weekend between Inter and Roma having already been played, ending in a goalless stalemate on Friday night. Bologna's coach Sinisa Mihajlovic will hopefully be able to make his fifth dugout appearance since he was diagnosed with leukemia this summer.

Rifinitura: Milan Host Napoli as Both Desperately Need Points

Serie A is back with a bang! Round 13 of the Italian league features many important match-ups, the biggest of which surely is Milan-Napoli at the San Siro Stadium. Atalanta host table leaders Juventus in the battle between the league’s best attack and its best defense, while Antonio Conte’s Inter travel to the Olympic Stadium in Turin to play Torino.

Magic Moment Roma! Wolves Oust Napoli to Catch Third Win

Roma caught their third win in a row as they topped Napoli 2-1 in Serie A Round 11 on Saturday. Niccoló Zaniolo wrapped his third seasonal goal to push the Giallorossi ahead before Jordan Veretout could double the lead from the penalty spot. Arkadiusz Milik made it to the scorecard for the fifth time in four games to reduce the gap for the Partenopei.

Milan Crisis Continues, Roma Chase Champions League Train

Milan’s psychodrama continued today at the Stadio Olimpico as the Rossoneri left three more points on the road losing 1-2 to Roma. Stefano Pioli’s side’s awful defending offered Edin Dzeko and Nicoló Zaniolo two easy chances to make it to the scorecard, frustrating Theo Hernandez’s equalizer. Roma thus lifted themselves up to the 5th place in the table.

Throwback Thursday: Totti’s Ballistic Prodigy (One of The Many)

There are many reasons why Francesco Totti has gained an unparalleled place of honor in the Roma supporters’ pantheon, as well as in any good calcio lover’s. The most simple is that perhaps he was just an awesomely talented football player, capable of scoring such unique goals as the one by which he stunned the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in a 2-4 win against Sampdoria.

Kolarov-Luis Alberto, Rome Derby of the Posts Ends In Tie

Lazio won the platonic Derby of the Posts in Rome, hitting the sticks four times against Roma’s two in a vibrant version of the Italian Capital cross-town battle. The count of goals, however, read 1-1, with Luis Alberto answering to Aleksandar Kolarov. It was an abnormal derby, if only for being the first in a long time without either Francesco Totti or Daniele De Rossi.

Serie A Round Recap: Miha’s Comeback, Milan’s Pain

A cap, a bandage on his neck, a hollow-cheeked appearance that still did not affect his proud look. Sinisa Mihajlovic dropped like a bomb on the Serie A opening round as he sat on Bologna’s bench for their debut in Verona. His appearance was the icicle on the cake of a Serie A Round 1 which saw Juventus, Napoli, and Inter win, whereas Milan lost to Udinese.
