Milan Players Not Hiding Title Aspirations following Quick Start

Milan are no longer settling with a top-four finish. The Rossoneri are openly aiming to win the Scudetto this season. Theo Hernandez and Alexis Saelemaekers, who were instrumental in the win over Venezia, made their intentions known in the post-game.

The Frenchman told Sky: “We work every day to be the best. Our goal is to win the title. Milan will fight to come out on top, and we will do it until the last game. We knew this was an important tilt and that it would not be easy. We were coming off a series of challenging matches, and the coach decided to give me some rest. I subbed in and managed to do what I like the most.”

Saelemaekers provided the assist on the second goal. He had similar remarks: “A competitive team wants to win, as natural. Milan do not start the season to finish second or third. We wish to be successful, but we will handle it with poise game after game, and we will see where we end up. The trust of the coach helps me grow. The credit also goes to my teammates that support me a lot.”

Milan coach Stefano Pioli was optimistic about his team’s title chances as well: “We will be stronger when every injured player returns. Then only the pitch will determine whether there are teams that are better than us.” The Rossoneri have collected 13 points in the first five matches. They have not won the Scudetto since 2011.
