Inter Primed to Miss Out on a Pair of Rumored Targets

Inter were among the first teams to set sights on Alan Matturro and Azzedine Ounahi, but they won’t sign either. Genoa overtook them in the first case and completed their pursuit. The Uruguayan center-back has reached Italy and completed the medicals, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The Grifone will pay €3M plus €500k add-ons and give Defensor 20 percent of the future sale. He’ll ink a three-and-a-half-year contract. He has recorded 4 goals in 38 appearances with his former club.

On top of missing out on Matturro, Inter will most likely see their plans go pear-shaped for Ounahi as well. According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Nerazzurri had reached out to Angers well before the World Cup, but his price tag has ballooned since.

He’s now worth around €40/45M, and La Beneamata can’t spend that much. Leicester City are the favorites to land the Moroccan staple. The Serie A giants will keep tabs until he transfers elsewhere, Corriere dello Sport informs.

Angers president Said Chabane spoke with RTL Sport (via SportMediaset).

“We received many offers for him from great clubs in Italy, England, and France. Our wish is to strike a deal in January that would allow him to stay until the end of the season.”

Our Take on Inter, Matturro, and Ounahi

The defender is 18 and wouldn’t have contributed right away. It hasn’t emerged yet, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the Nerazzurri collaborated with Genoa on the signing, even though they have a different ownership compared to a few years ago when they used to do this kind of thing all the time. While the Atlas Lions star has gotten too pricey, it’s interesting that they searched for a midfielder in the first place.
