Talks Between Udinese and Milan for Serb Talent Lagging

Milan continue to chase after Lazar Samardzic, but the negotiation will be a slow burn until the final days of the window. The Rossoneri need Udinese to lower their price tag and sell some players before a proper assault, Calciomercato informs.

In the meantime, the Friuliani have signed a possible replacement, Jurgen Ekkelenkamp from Royal Antwerp. They are close to bringing back Alexis Sanchez, who would also play as a no.10 in their new 3-4-2-1 scheme.

If Udinese sold Samardzic, they would be in a much better spot than a couple of weeks ago, but the talks with Milan haven’t advanced much. They demand €20M plus add-ons. The Rossoneri tried to reduce the request with some makeweights. However, they counterparty isn’t keen on those they were offered, Yacine Adli and Tommaso Pobega.

Instead, they are high on Kevin Zeroli and Davide Bartesaghi, but their club doesn’t want to lose them, especially the budding midfielder. The Serb has agreed to his personal terms. The commissions to his camp, which includes his father, would be below the buyers’ €5M cap.

Our Take on Milan and Samardzic

He’d be a nice weapon to add, but he’s hardly a priority. They already have one high-end solution in the aggressive version of their 4-2-3-1, Christian Pulisic as a no.10 and Samuel Chukwueze on the right wing, which should be the way to go in easier games. But it probably won’t be the standard one, as they’ll still use Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a tactical weapon plenty. Bringing in a rock-solid holding midfielder, which would help in both cases, is way more important, and they are having enough trouble with that already.
