Milan Initiate Talks with Lazio over Potential Summer Transfers

Milan leadership have reportedly initiated talks with Lazio to discuss several potential reinforcements for the summer transfer market. As revealed by Louis Girardi on Twitter (via SempreMilan), Biancocelesti sporting director Igli Tare has had a dialogue with his Rossoneri counterparts over potential business arrangements between the sides.

According to the same source, the name of Alessio Romagnoli has been brought up specifically, with Milan reportedly looking to tie the captain down to a new long-term contract. Though the Italian’s current contract at San Siro runs out at the end of next season, the club would like to avoid being drawn on the rumors suggesting that the defender may leave.

As for Milan’s discussion with Lazio, it is said that the parties have tried to understand the margins for negotiating Joaquin Correa’s move to Lombardy.

Despite being often overshadowed by Ciro Immobile, the 26-year-old has drawn attention towards his burgeoning talent with a series of eye-catching performances.

The Argentine has racked up only three goals and two assists in Serie A this season but has been instrumental in relieving the pressure on Immobile and creating spaces for Luis Alberto. Blessed with a blistering pace, Correa boasts impressive technical ability and tactical awareness.

He ticks all the boxes for a type of player Stefano Pioli is looking to recruit in the summer to bolster his attacking options.

However, Correa’s contract in Rome is due to expire in 2024, which could throw a spanner in the works.

Meanwhile, coveted Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has not been the subject of discussion. Milan were monitoring the 26-year-old’s progress before being blown out of the water by Lazio’s stratospheric demands.

With Soualiho Meite highly unlikely to stay at the San Siro beyond the summer, the Rossoneri may reignite their interest in Milinkovic-Savic.

But the path leading to the Serb could be rather tumultuous, as Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United also keep close tabs on the towering midfielder.
