Despite a rough start to this year’s campaign, the Bianconeri seem to have confronted the point of inflection as Juventus have managed to pull of an impressive 2-1 victory at the Allianz Stadium against Sassuolo in the Quarter Finals of the Coppa Italia.
Paulo Dybala’s early volley and Dusan Vlahovic’s last-gasp shot that deflected off of Ruan was enough to book the Old Lady a spot into the semi finals, where they are set to face off against a challenging Fiorentina side.
With the Serbian international arriving to Turin several weeks ago after his €70M move from La Viola, Vlahovic will be returning to the Stadio Artemio Franchi sooner than expected as Juventus will prepare to play a two-legged semi finals against Vincenzo Italiano’s side.
Following Juventus’ dominant display, Allegri spoke to Sport Mediaset after the fixture about the Bianconeri‘s performance: “It was practically over, but we were lucky with that late chance. It’s also true that we created many chances in the second half and did well. We rather fell asleep after our opening goal and Sassuolo pushed us further and further back into they equalized. There were already signs of recovery by half-time and then we poured forward.”
In addition, the gaffer expressed his enthusiasm regarding the Old Lady’s pair of recent signings: “We are happy with Vlahovic and Zakaria, who are very good players and settled in quickly. Juve had been playing better recently, so these players bring characteristics we didn’t have before. We are happy to have Vlahovic, he needs to improve, be cleaner in the way he plays, attack the space more, but that’s the normal process for any player.”
Finally, the Italian tactician commented on his side’s upcoming fixture against Atalanta the Gewiss Stadium: “They are a physical side with a lot of quality, they will be fired up by their Coppa Italia elimination, so we need to give it our all on Sunday and see what happens. The other teams are too far away.”
While Juventus seem to have found consistency within their style of play as the Bianconeri have managed to pull an incredible string of results throughout the second half of this year’s campaign, Allegri hopes his men remain concentrated as they prepare to head to Bergamo for a fixture where collecting all three points is vital in order to keep their dreams of playing Champions League football next season alive.
