Rafa Benitez has clear ideas about which team will come out on top in Tuesday’s encounter between Napoli and Milan. The coach offered his prediction to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I liked the Azzurri in the first match, even though Victor Osimhen was unavailable. The Rossoneri and Stefano Pioli impressed me. Reaching the quarter-finals after winning the Scudetto is commendable, but the Partenopei are stronger. They can come back, and they’ll be more confident with their top striker.”
The gaffer dished on Napol’s recent subpar results.
“Every team experiences slow moments. In their case, they get overconfident when they string together multiple wins in a row, and they may lose focus in a different competition. They have been great so far. When we met in Liverpool, I told Luciano Spalletti that they would win the title, and he didn’t reply because he’s superstitious. Getting eliminated wouldn’t change anything. He’s guiding them perfectly.”
Benitez was also quizzed about Juventus and Roma’s bids to win Europa League.
“They both have good chances. Massimiliano Allegri and José Mourinho know what it takes to prevail. This year’s difficulties could provide extra motivation to the Bianconeri because they are aware it’s their only opportunity to have something to celebrate.”
Benitez reportedly received a few offers but turned them all down.
“I want to be certain. My staff and I have been competitive in many countries. Football is more focused on youngsters now, and we have done that, but you always need money to invest. There’s no preclusion toward a Serie A return if the context is the right one.”
