On Wednesday evening, Andrea Pirlo might have saved his job for the moment, as Juventus came out with a decisive 2-1 win over Napoli. Federico Chiesa combined with Cristiano Ronaldo to produce the first goal, but the collaboration between the two wasn’t over yet, as the Italian winger decided to take part in the infamous CR7 goal-celebration.
The former Fiorentina man mimicked the Portuguese’s jump, creating a funny scene for the viewer.
In an interview for Sky Sport (via Calciomercato), Chiesa explained his part in the Ronaldo celebration, whilst also thanking his manager for helping him out throughout his first season at the club.
“I have improved in terms of consistency. What has changed? A little bit of everything. From playing with champions to training methods, the mentality here at Juventus forces you to always improve. Winning is a must in here.
“Pirlo immediately gave me confidence, I just have to thank him for it, every day he gives me advice on how to improve, from the defensive phase to the attack,” added the 23-year-old.
“The celebration with Ronaldo was the rush of the moment and I copied his excitement. It’s very contagious. It’s fantastic to play with a champion of his caliber who made history.
“I’m happy to play with champions like that and I have a fantastic relationship with all of them, they are all fantastic guys in the group “, concluded Chiesa.
On another note, the Old Lady’s official website announced the renewal of Radu Dragusin’s contract until 2025.
The 19-year-old defender is one of the hottest prospects within the club’s U-23 squad, and has also made few appearances with Pirlo’s first team this season.
The Bianconeri fans will be relieved with the news, as it had been feared that the young Romanian would end up leaving Turin once his contract expires at the end of the current campaign, with a host of European sides being interested in his signature – Tottenham Hotspur being the most notable.
