Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister Elma Aveiro staunchly rose to her brother’s defense following some criticism from retired striker Antonio Cassano, and didn’t shy away from aiming digs at the notorious Italian.
Since hanging his boots, the 42-year-old has become one of the most controversial pundits in Italy, living up to the bad-boy reputation he certainly earned during his playing days.
In his most recent appearance at the Viva el Futbol podcast, Cassano audaciously claimed Ronaldo doesn’t really know how to play the game, describing him as an “anti-football” player.
The former Roma, Real Madrid, Milan and Inter player insisted the Portuguese superstar shouldn’t be mentioned in the same league as the likes of Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gonzalo Higuain and Sergio Aguero among others, claiming these players knew how to bring their teammates into play, something that CR7 lacked.
These controversial comments naturally stirred the pot on social media, but they also prompted a swift reply from Ronaldo’s sister Elma who told Cassano off with a vicious attack.
I don’t know this poor man and I don’t even care to know him. But I just want to tell him one thing: if Ronaldo doesn’t know how to play and he scored 900 goals, imagine if he knew.
They say he [Cassano] was a football player, but I think they’re wrong. In reality, he was a ball boy.
