Darmian Urges Inter to Be Focused Ahead of Shakhtar Clash

Inter defender Matteo Darmian has advised his team to be focused and determined for what will be a very crucial and decisive Champions League encounter against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.

As quoted by the club’s official website, the former Manchester United man told reporters: “We have to take to the pitch fully focused and with determination, as we did on Sunday, while knowing that we’re up against a good team that like to keep the ball, but if we have the right attitude and focus, we can make it difficult for them and we’ll try to score goals because that’s what we’ll need tomorrow to win the game.

Inter salvaged a point from what was a pretty tough away fixture against Shakhtar. The match ended goalless, like the previous two Champions League meetings between the two sides.

However, the Nerazzurri registered back-to-back 3-1 wins over Sheriff Tiraspol and are now second in their group behind Real Madrid.

Inter last made it to the knockout stages of the Champions League a decade ago but they have a good chance of making it this season. A win over Shakhtar will confirm their place in the last 16 if Real win their match against Sheriff as well.
