Djuricic Discusses Injury, Hints He Will Leave Sassuolo

Filip Djuricic recently returned from a mysterious injury that cost him a lot of time: “I was on the mend for 152 days, more than half the season. It was a tough situation, both physically and psychologically. The staff continuously delayed my return week after week. It looked something simple, but then it turned out to be a serious problem. I did not get the right treatment initially.”

The Sassuolo attacker talked to the Serbian website Sport Klub (via TuttoSport): “Fortunately, I met with doctor Tocilli in February. He allowed me to forgo having another surgery, which would have knocked me out of the World Cup. Being part of the squad is my main goal. I am fit now, and I am re-finding the right rhythm.”

Djuricic will be a free agent soon: “I think I am ready to join a bigger club. I have not played in five months; otherwise, I would have already signed a pre-contract with another side. There were some offers before my lengthy absence. The Neroverdi have been a launching pad. I believe there is little chance I stay.” The midfielder has been linked to Inter, Lazio, and Napoli as a Bosman signing.

Coach Alessio Dionisi addressed the interview in the pre-game presser: “I think he made a mistake in saying those things, if they were true. He is an excellent player and a good guy. I talked with him, and he will be present tomorrow against Napoli. He will be useful in the remaining matches. Maybe things will change.”
