Fabio Capello Backs Mourinho’s ‘Aggressive’ Roma to ‘Annoy Everyone’

Coach Fabio Capello led Roma to their last Serie A championship victory at the turn of the century, in 2000/01 – beating the likes of Juventus and Lazio to clinch only the third Scudetto accolade in their history.

The former Milan and Real Madrid tactician’s season in wildly remembered for his outlandish Giallorossi outfit, something that he himself sees glimpses of in Jose Mourinho’s men.

Speaking on Radio Anchi’Io Sport on Radio 1, the stern Italian manager gave his thoughts on the Special One’s exploits so far in the capital city.

If I expected something more from Mourinho? I know the difficulties of Rome, Mou has tried to impose something different, both at the level of play and at the level of mentality and the difficulties have been seen. But now we are seeing the first fruits; the team is more aggressive and determined,” he said, before declaring that “they won’t win the championship but will annoy everyone in their path.” (via Voce Giallorossa)

Mourinho’s men most recently ousted Empoli 4-2 at the Stadio Carlo Castellani, after an emphatic opening half was followed by a disappointing but ‘light-hearted’ second half.

The Giallorossi sit in sixth place, as they look to reduce the gap on the top four, in order to secure a place in Europe’s premier cup competition next season.
