FIGC Chief Gravina: “Italy Credible Host for Euro 2032”

Italian Football Federation (FIGC) chief Gabriele Gravina has announced that Italy is ‘well-positioned’ to host the 2032 edition of the UEFA Euro tournament.

Taking advantage of the sports summit ‘Sport moves Italy’, the 68-year-old executive spoke on a plethora of topics, but most importantly highlighted the position of Italy to host the continental championship.

“For Euro 2032, there are Italy and Turkey. We are well-positioned as we are finally credible.”

In total, Bel Paese have hosted four major football championships, winning two of them – the 1934 FIFA World Cup was won by the Azzurri as hosts, and so was the EURO 1968 tournament.

The last major competition to take place in the country was the 1990 FIFA World Cup.

If the EURO 2032 bid is approved, Italy will host the full-fledged championship from start to finish for the first time since 1980 – unlike the 2020 edition, when only a few matches, including the opener, were held at Stadio Olimpico.

Germany will host EURO 2024, while the United Kingdom and Ireland are up against Turkey’s bid for the tournament four years later.
