Gazzetta: Allegri Nearing Juventus Return and Will Be Granted More Power

Despite all the rumors linking various coaches to the Juventus bench next season – including Gennaro Gattuso of all people – Massimiliano Allegri remains the clear favorite.

According to la Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato), the former Milan and Cagliari coach was spotted in center of Turin on Thursday, and then went on to watch the training session of his son Giorgio.

As it is known by now, Andrea Pirlo’s first season of his managerial career isn’t going too well, with the Bianconeri getting knocked out of the Champions League round of 16 at the hands of Porto, and are set to dethroned by Inter who will imminently seal the Scudetto title.

Whilst the young tactician is hoping to save his job with a Top 4 finish – and perhaps a Coppa Italia triumph at the expense of Atalanta – most observers feel that the writing is on the wall for the 41-year-old.

Therefore, Allegri – who met with Juventus president Andrea Agnelli earlier this month in Miami – could be set to complete his comeback to his old position, and even being granted more authorities within the club.

The Livorno native spent five successful seasons in Turin, leading the team towards five Scudetto titles, four Coppa Italia triumphs, as well as two Champions League finals, before being ousted in 2019.

Things have gone from bad to worse since his departure, which is why the two men who were behind the decision could be the ones to pay the price.

The men in questions are vice-president Pavel Nedved and sporting director Fabio Paratici, who opted to replace Max with Maurizio Sarri.

Thus, with Nedved and Paratici gone, Allegri would have much more power at Juventus, as he’ll be acting in a role similar to the one filled by the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United in the past.
