Ibrahimovic Rues Porto Clash as Milan’s ‘Worst Game Yet’ in the Champions League

Porto snatched an unlikely victory against Milan at the Estadio do Dragao, with long linked Rossoneri target Luis Diaz netting the only goal of the game just after the hour mark. The loss sees Milan winless after three matchdays and at the bottom of the group of death – Group B.

The Rossoneri managed just one shot on target throughout the match and ultimately fell to a defeat that points towards the exit door in the Champions League.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who appeared off the bench to replace Olivier Giroud, has reflected on his side’s lacklustre performance.

Speaking to SportMediaset (via MilanNews), the Swede legend commented: “We didn’t deserve the point, it’s the worst game we’ve played yet. But this is football. We are at zero points, but we must continue.

For many in this team it is the first time in the Champions League, they have to grow and learn. There are so many players missing, but this is part of football.”

Ibra finally returned to paying ways after being sidelined through an injury.

“I just got back and I’m happy to play, I need more minutes to find rhythm. The more I play the more the rhythm returns. It was the first match for Bakayoko too, but I don’t want to find excuses: in the next match we have to do better.”

Out of the six matches to be played in the group stages, the Rossoneri have lost all three so far – something they hoped to avoid after a seven-year absence in the competition.

“There are three games to go, we fought to be in the Champions League and as long as there is a chance we are aiming for the goal. Unfortunately, we lost today, but I’m confident.”

Liverpool sit atop Group B with perfect 9 points after three games, five ahead of Atletico and Porto, who sit in second and third place respectively. Milan are yet to taste victory.
