As Hellas Verona were held to a draw at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi with a late goal from Gaetano Castrovilli, coach Igor Tudor was impressed with the presence of Dusan Vlahovic, who he says possesses the hunger between the two ears.
Verona took an early lead from Kevin Lasagna’s sumptuous finish, before succumbing late on Castrovilli’s header ten minutes before full-time.
Tudor provided his analysis of the game, saying he was impressed with the performance despite several absences.
“I’m even more pleased with the performance of the three centre-backs, considering that we had several absences. Maybe we deserved three more points. We had good games against Atalanta and Torino and we didn’t collect anything, today we deserved more,” he said.
Nevertheless, Tudor was happy with his team.
“But I’m happy, there’s great potential here, there’s a group of players who can give more. I’m happy, but with more work we can grow even more. I think we made few mistakes. Maybe one time with Sampdoria, then there were many good wins against Juve, Roma, Lazio. The game I liked the most, though, was the one against Empoli,” he explained.
Finally, he gave his say on Vlahovic’s superb turn of form, which has seen him score 16 goals in 19 appearances so far in the league.
He said: “In Italy you say his name in the wrong way, you say Vlahovic, with an aspirated ‘h’. If I had to mark him I would grab my thigh and say I can’t do it! He’s one of the best in the world, he has everything. It’s everything between the two ears, the hunger, that makes the difference.”
Tudor’s Verona sit in 12th place with 24 points, way behind seventh placed Fiorentina, who failed to leapfrog Roma and Juventus to grab the fifth spot.
