Inter star Alessandro Bastoni has quashed speculation linking him with several top European clubs, committing his future to Giuseppe Meazza. During an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the sought-after defender reiterated his unwavering desire to stay with Nerazzurri.
Asked whether he sees his immediate future at Inter, Bastoni replied: “At the moment, I’d say yes,” via FCInterNews. “Do you want to know why? Every time we play, our team bus passes a big apartment building. I always see an older fellow there waving an Inter flag. He’s standing there every time.“
Bastoni signed a long-term contract extension with Inter last summer. His new deal at Meazza lasts until 2027. However, that hasn’t discouraged a host of European heavyweights from adding the 25-year-old to their shortlists for the upcoming transfer window.
Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich are among the clubs interested in prizing Bastoni away from Inter. City boss Pep Guardiola is particularly keen on the Italy international due to his well-documented technical attributes and ability to play from the back.
Despite being approached by elite foreign sides, Bastoni has never hidden his happiness at Inter. The former Atalanta center-back has been a focal point of Simone Inzaghi’s defense, helping Nerazzurri reach the Champions League final last season and all but secure their 20th Scudetto this term.
Bastoni has played a crucial role in Serie A’s best defensive team in 2023/24. Given his significance to Inzaghi’s setup, Inter will probably do everything to fend off his suitors this summer.
