Inter and Torino Stars among 5 Strikers Tracked by Chelsea

Despite having three center forwards among their ranks, Chelsea are hoping to strengthen their attacking department, and their shortlist includes Andrea Belotti and Romelu Lukaku.

The Blues currently boast Olivier Giroud, Tammy Abraham and new signing Timo Werner, who can all play in the number 9 role.

However, for one reason or another, new manager Thomas Tuchel doesn’t seem to be entirely convinced with this current crop.

Whilst Werner has struggled for goals since completing his move from RB Leipzig last summer, Abraham arguably doesn’t fit the mold of the German coach.

For his part, Giroud appears to be the tactician’s most trusted bomber, but at the age of 34 – as well as an expiring contract – the club must look for the future.

Therefore, The Sun (via Calciomercato) reports that Chelsea are looking for five strikers as possible transfer targets, including Lukaku and Belotti.

The Inter striker had a previous spell at the West London club between 2011 and 2013, but barely featured for the first team.

The Belgian was eventually sold to Everton after spending a season on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

Since then, the 27-year-old has turned himself into one of the best strikers in the world, and has contributed in 19 goals and 7 assists in 27 Serie A appearances this term.

On the other hand, Belotti is yet to escape the struggling Torino, despite being linked with a transfer to Milan in the past.

The Italian’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2022, and is said to be refusing a contract renewal.

Thus, the Granata could find themselves forced to sell their captain and talisman this summer to avoid losing him for free a year later.

The other three names mentioned on Chelsea’s shortlist are former Milan striker André Silva (currently at Eintracht Frankfurt), Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak.
