The Top 3 Positions That Inter Must Address Next Summer

Although Inter are on the right track to win their first Scudetto title in 11 years, their European campaign turned out to be a complete letdown. Giuseppe Marotta managed to build a strong Nerazzurri squad, but but some positions could use some enhancing in order to become a transform into a real world class team.

Thus, here are the Top 3 positions that Inter must address in the next summer transfer market.

1- Center Back

In Stefan de Vrij, Milan Skriniar and the young Alessandro Bastoni, the Beneamata have a formidable back three.

However, the problems begin to surface for Antonio Conte once one of the them is unavailable.

Danilo D’Ambrisio is a solid backup option, but he remains a natural fullback. The same goes for Aleksandar Kolarov who struggled as a center back, whilst Andrea Ranocchia is merely an emergency option.

Therefore, one or two defensive signings are needed if Inter want to compete on all fronts next season.

2 – Left Wingback

We all know by now how important wingbacks are in Conte’s tactical formations. Whilst Achraf Hakimi has been a blessing for the club on the right side, things are less insured on the opposing flank.

Although Ivan Perisic has been working hard to adapt to this role, a more natural alternative must arrive at Appiano Gentile.

Atalanta’s Robin Gosens could be on the market this summer, and he would prove to be the perfect replacement for the aging Ashley Young. On the other hand, Federico Dimarco (currently on loan at Hellas Verona) might be a cheaper option.

3 – Center Forward

Whilst Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are among the best striking partnerships in the world, the Nerazzurri’s attacking department is lacking in terms of depth.

Alexis Sanchez is the only backup option that Conte has been willing to relying on, but another player who can be deployed in the number 9 role is definitely needed.

Inter were repeatedly linked with veterans like Olivier Giroud and Edin Dzeko, and we should expect the same names to resurface once again in the summer. Cagliari’s Leonardo Pavoletti would be a decent alternative.
