Inter Newcomer Rues ‘Unacceptable’ Bologna Stalemate

Monza loanee Carlo Augusto had to blow off some steam after Inter dropped a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against Bologna on Saturday. The highly-rated wingback came off the bench early in the second half but failed to make an impact.

Simone Inzaghi was infuriated at the post-match conference after Inter let complacency get the better of them in their last Serie A game before the international break. As it seems, he’s not the only disappointed figure in the Nerazzurri locker room.

Augusto deemed his side’s performance after going 2-0 up ‘unacceptable.’ Furious with the result, the 24-year-old admitted Inter ‘cannot draw matches like this.’ Aware the hosts were in cruising control of proceedings after a ferocious start, he criticized Nerazzurri’s inexplicable lapse of concentration.

Things didn’t go well today,” the Inter newcomer said, as quoted by FCInterNews. “But we have to keep going the way we had been doing in previous matches.

We’re angry because we’re Inter, and we always have to win. We can’t draw matches like this, we have to stay focused. We were two goals up, and then we ended up drawing. It’s unacceptable to draw matches like this.”

Augusto’s decision to join Inter in the summer transfer window has benefitted him on a personal level. Brazil caretaker manager Fernando Diniz has handed the attacking-minded left-back his maiden international call-up.

The new Inter star revealed the invitation caught him by surprise.

A surprise. I didn’t expect it. I hope to do well during the international break,” Augusto stated.
