Inter Scout Lazio Loanee as Kolarov Replacement

French-Algerian winger Mohamed Fares, who is currently on loan at Genoa from Lazio, has been touted for a high-profile transfer to Inter, according to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FCInterNews).

Naturally a wingback, Fares also operates further ahead on the wings – a role Inter ace Aleksaner Kolarov performs with great efficiency. However, the Serbian will leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires, possibly to Sardinia with Cagliari where he will find more game time.

Inter are eyeing Fares as a direct replacement for Kolarov

Sporting director Piero Ausilio is said to have been a fan of the 25-year-old left footer since quite some time and even tried signing him back in 2019, but instead signed Cristiano Biraghi from Fiorentina.

He is currently on loan from Lazio, where he was deemed as a surplus requirement, after signing with the Biancocelesti in 2020. His move to Genoa however, has not been fruitful as he has been marred by muscle injuries.

Juventus, Sassuolo and Napoli have also expressed interest in the French-born player.
