Federico Dimarco sat out the Manchester City game due to muscle fatigue, but he won’t be sidelined for much longer. Inter are holding out hope for an immediate return in the Derby. If not, it’ll happen in the following match.
Coach Simone Inzaghi was optimistic on the matter on Wednesday night (via SOSFanta).
“He should be available for the Derby. We won’t take any chances, but we are fairly confident. He’ll be called up if he has a good practice on the eve of the game. We have capable doctors and physiotherapists who monitor him daily. He did some light work today and seemed in better shape. He’ll be an option if there are no further issues.”
Carlos Augusto filled in for Dimarco in the Champions League and had a passable outing although he left a juicy chance on the table in the first half.
Per TuttoSport, Inter stayed in Manchester longer than they would have normally done because there were no night flights to Milan from their airport, which will slightly modify their practice schedule. Still, the Derby will take place on Sunday, so they have more than enough time to prepare.
Dimarco is likely to be at least a bench option against Milan. The Nerazzurri will have a clean week of training after the date with their crosstown rivals. They’ll face Udinese, Torino, and Red Star Belgrade before the next break. Marko Arnautovic will also be back after skipping one contest because of an illness. Mike Maignan is expected to recover and man the sticks for Milan.
