Inter vs Venezia Risks Being Postponed Due to COVID Cases

Inter vs Venezia is at risk of being put off due to 15 Covid cases recorded in the Lagunari roster. The match is set to be played on Saturday at 6.00 PM at the San Siro but, as things stand, there are high chances it will be postponed.

After four positive players tested positive on January 15th, 11 more cases were recorded among the Venezia lines, including four players and six staff members. It was not confirmed whether the last person to test positive was a player or a staff member.

Should the new positive case turn out to be a player, that would be enough to postpone the match against Inter per the new Covid protocol introduced by the Italian Football Association.

Further investigations will be carried out before an official decision is made. In an official statement, Venezia wrote:

“The health authorities have been informed, the members were promptly placed in isolation according to current regulations and will follow the procedures provided by the health protocol”.

Meanwhile, Venezia were awarded a 3-0 forfeit win over Salernitana as the Granata could not play the match scheduled on January 6 due to a Covid outbreak within their ranks. The Salerno-based team also received a one-point penalization, though the decision is expected to be appealed.

Inter may likewise be awarded a victory against Bologna for the same reason, though an official decision has not been issued yet.
