Inter haven’t been able to find a solution for Joaquin Correa, and the chances of one emerging late are slim. He'll provide depth.

Inter Outcast Set for Last-Ditch Attempt to Rescue His Nerazzurri Career

Inter manager Simone Inzaghi reportedly contemplates handing forgotten forward Joaquin Correa his first Serie A start of the season today. According to Calciomercato, the afternoon away clash against Hellas Verona could be the Argentine’s last chance to avoid the axe.

Correa, who joined Inter from Lazio in the summer of 2021, forced his stay at Giuseppe Meazza this summer despite the club’s genuine ambition to offload him abroad. Despite receiving several lucrative proposals from the Middle East and Turkey, the 30-year-old rebuffed all advances to remain.

However, it has proved the wrong choice. Correa has been on the fringes of the Inter squad this season. Barring three cameo appearances against Roma, Monza, and Udinese, he has spent most of the campaign as a bystander. Indeed, he has amassed just 38 minutes of top-flight action.

On top of that, Inter refused to include him in their UEFA Champions League list. With Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, Mehdi Taremi, and Marko Arnautovic ahead of him in the pecking order, Correa’s topsy-turvy stint at Meazza is inevitably drawing to a disturbing conclusion.

But Inzaghi is ready to give him one last chance to salvage his Inter career. With his contract running out at the end of the season, Correa must take advantage of every opportunity to convince the Nerazzurri chiefs not to cast him out.

One such chance could come at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi. With Inter facing RB Leipzig in Europe next week, Inzaghi wants to rest Martinez and Thuram after their international commitments with Argentina and France, respectively.

Therefore, it’s now or never for Correa.
