Juventus Suffer Double Injury Blow Ahead of Napoli Game

Juventus returned to winning ways in dramatic fashion against Frosinone but paid a steep price in terms of injuries, as Adrien Rabiot and Weston McKennie were forced to leave the game early. The Frenchman suffered a toe dislocation, while the USMNT staple sprained his shoulder, Massimiliano Allegri stated in his post-game remarks.

According to Goal, the duo will miss at least Sunday’s game versus Napoli and will be re-assessed afterward. The Bianconeri aren’t sure they’ll have Danilo either. He picked up an ankle sprain a week ago and will be a close call.

Per TuttoSport, the Juventus coach will be forced to come up with a brand-new midfielder without Rabiot and McKennie. Carlos Alcaraz has been serviceable in his cameos and will fill one spot.

The other one could go to Fabio Miretti, who hasn’t fully been convincing, Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, with Manuel Locatelli switching positions, or Danilo, if healthy.

Our Take on McKennie, Rabiot, and the Juventus Midfield

The simultaneous absence is a massive blow because the physical gap with the potential substitutes is gigantic. Alcaraz has been okay so far but is a different type of player. Moreover, it’s not the right type of game to unveil the trident with Federico Chiesa and Kenan Yildiz, or use the latter or Samuel Iling-Junior as a creative box-to-box. Danilo would make some sense but hasn’t played there in years. They’d be better off deploying Andrea Cambiaso centrally and Timothy Weah wide.
