Lazio Already Contemplating Extension for Top Newcomer

Lazio are satisfied with the early performances of Daichi Kamada and are already thinking about handing him a new contract. The Japanese signed just a seasonal one in July. However, each party has an option to prolong it for two more years, Corriere dello Sport relays.

The midfielder accepted €3M wages after the courtship by Milan and Atletico Madrid didn’t come to fruition despite extensive talks. He and the club protected themselves with the particular deal. Though, there’s little doubt he’ll stay for more than one season.

Lazio are happy with how Kamada fit in and wish to revise it to quash any concern. They’ll tender a renewal before the January window and the 2024 AFC Asian Cup.

The 27-year-old has played in all but two games so far, starting on six occasions. He has scored once, against Napoli, and provided an assist. On the other hand, he didn’t make the XI in the past four Serie A fixtures and didn’t come off the bench twice.

Our Take on Kamada and Lazio

Contracts have gotten wonkier and wonkier in recent years, and his one resembles Paulo Dybala’s, minus the peculiar release clause. A dose of skepticism was understandable given his weird summer. While the Biancocelesti might want certainties and roster continuity, he might not be that interested in tweaking the terms so soon.
