Lazio Owner Irate for Disappointing Start of the Season

Lazio president Claudio Lotito was furious following the draw against Monza. He canceled a scheduled rest day for the squad and had a heated chat with Maurizio Sarri. The other executives and staff members weren’t allowed to attend to avoid leaks, Corriere dello Sport informs.

He lashed out at the players too. The president has been unhappy ever since they lost to Torino. The ensuing results haven’t been much better.

Lotito stressed the fact that he spent €100M for the newcomers, but they haven’t been utilized enough. He’s especially displeased with Taty Castellanos seeing little action. His tirades are starting to wear on Sarri, who has had to act almost like a psychologist in the last couple of seasons.

The gaffer is looking for answers too. Danilo Cataldi and Luca Pellegrini cited mental problems rather than physical or tactical ones. The gaffer agreed.

“The issue of integrating newcomers still exists, but it’s tougher to understand this regression for the incumbent ones, unless the team failed to give 105 percent of its capabilities.”

Lazio are off to their worst start in the three-point era. Things won’t get much easier, considering their upcoming schedule. They’ll face Torino, Milan, Celtic Glasgow, and Atalanta next. They have won just once so far, knocking off Napoli away.

Our Take on Lotito

Reports about his fits of anger are always colorful, but he’s not wrong, as their struggles have been baffling.
