Sarri Could End up at Tottenham if José Mourinho Gets Sacked

Maurizio Sarri is high on the list of candidates to potentially replace José Mourinho on Tottenham’s bench, but it will be challenging to move from the current coach. The Spurs showed appreciation for the former Juventus and Napoli gaffer in previous years, but their respective timings never coincided in the past, transfer market expert Alfredo Pedullà reported.

The Lilywhites are not happy with the performances of the team under Mourinho. However, he has almost an ironclad contract as he is making €17.5M per year with a €40M penalty if he got fired. His deal will expire in 2023. The management of the English club is set to meet with Sarri’s entourage in the next few days to discuss a possible future together. His pact with Juventus will run out in a couple of months.

The journalist pens that the veteran manager would love to return to London. Spurs tried to poach him before he joined Chelsea, and he was also on their radar as a possible substitute for Mauricio Pochettino when he appeared on his way out but was ultimately confirmed.

Roma are intensely pursuing Sarri as well and there is mutual interest in that regard. Despite the team’s success in Europa League, Paulo Fonseca might not be retained due to deteriorating relationships with the players and the executives. Moreover, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is working on a reunion, but it hinges on whether Napoli will qualify for Champions League, otherwise they will opt for an up-and-coming coach.
