Ruben Loftus-Cheek won’t be available for the next two games, but his injury isn’t too severe, and he should easily recover during the international break.

Milan Facing Major Injury Scare Ahead of Dortmund Game

An injury-riddled start to the season for Milan continues after Ruben Loftus-Cheek limped off the field in a 2-0 win over Lazio on Saturday. According to Sky Sport Italia, the English midfielder will learn the extent of the damage on Monday.

With a couple of challenging fixtures awaiting Milan next week, Stefano Pioli’s men are anxious to find out Loftus-Cheek’s condition. They’re waiting for test results with bated breath as the former Chelsea man left San Siro in pain. He appeared to have sustained a groin injury at first glance.

But further checks suggest it is an abdominal strain. It’s all a guessing game at the moment. Unfortunately for Milan, it’s now a near-certainty that Loftus-Cheek won’t be at Pioli’s disposal for Wednesday’s mouth-watering Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park.

After sharing the spoils with Newcastle United in a tepid 0-0 draw in their opening European game, Milan cannot afford to lose points in Germany. Stuck in the so-called ‘group of death,’ Rossoneri need a result against Dortmund, who slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain on matchday one.

While there’s hope that Loftus-Cheek could return for next weekend’s Serie A encounter against Genoa, there’s no guarantee the 27-year-old will recover in time. Milan will head to Stadio Luigi Ferraris amid a domestic purple patch, having won their last three league games on the trot.
