Milan Reiterate Belief in Stefano Pioli Despite Lecce Fiasco

Stefano Pioli is a man under fire as Serie A title hopefuls Milan drew 2-2 at bottom-half Lecce on Saturday after taking a relatively comfortable 2-0 lead. Rossoneri looked in firm control of proceedings at the Stadio Via del Mare. But all of a sudden, they found themselves on the back foot and almost lost the game.

However, the club has faith in Pioli. According to Calciomercato, Milan do not consider sacking their manager, even though fans are slowly turning their backs on the Scudetto-winning coach.

Like in a 2-2 draw against Napoli, Milan let complacency creep in and got severely punished for failing to close the match earlier. Pioli had VAR to thank for returning a point from Puglia. Roberto Piccoli saw his last-minute winner disallowed for a foul in the build-up.

Despite avoiding defeat, this stalemate felt like a loss from Milan fans’ perspective, condemning Rossoneri to a fourth straight league match without winning. Adding insult to injury, Pioli lost Rafael Leao and Davide Calabria to fitness issues.

With Juventus beating Cagliari at home and Inter widely expected to do the same against Frosinone tomorrow, Milan are at risk of being cut adrift from the Scudetto chasing pack heading into the November international break. As if on-field problems weren’t enough, Rossoneri must deal with a growing injury crisis.

The question remains – how long can Pioli continue to dance on the edge?
