Mourinho Ready for the ‘Roma Project’ to Take Shape

The Scudetto is bound to be eyed by as many as 4-5 clubs – mainly Inter, Milan, Juventus, Roma and Atalanta and Jose Mourinho’s appointment has revitalized Roma as they look to challenge for the Serie A title for the first time in many years.

The club have seen a complete overhaul of squad after the departure of many top players including Alessandro Florenzi and Edin Dzeko.

Mourinho, however, is fully focused on the project that he calls the ‘Roma project’.

Speaking to Serie A’s official YouTube channel (via Romapress.net), the Special One commented: “This is not the Friedkins project, it is not the Tiago Pinto project, it is not the Mourinho project, it is the Roma project.”

Mourinho has experienced Italian football before, after a successful treble-winning spell with Inter got him a job at Real Madrid in 2010.

“I know Italy, I know the culture of football, I know something about Roma, which was my real rival, it was close to us to fight for the national titles. Now I’m ready for it.”

He has praised Roma fans and the passion that the city exudes.

Roma have gone a long time without winning a title – about which Mourinho said: “It is very easy to be a great supporter of a team that continually wins, it is another thing to be a fan in this type of situation, this means a lot to me.”

Roma resume their Serie A season against Sassuolo on September 12 at the Stadio Olimpico.
