Napoli Clash Gives Leao Chance to End San Siro Drought

While Napoli will be missing Victor Osimhen in attack due to fitness issues, Milan have problems of their own, especially at home, regarding the goalscoring form of Rafael Leao. Having put up a scintillating display in Naples ten days ago, coach Stefano Pioli will be looking up to him once again in the mouthwatering first-leg UCL clash at San Siro.

However, Leao’s form at San Siro has hit a snag this campaign. The 23-year-old has not scored at the iconic stadium in five months – a streak that extends to 150 days. Leao last netted at home on November 13th, 2022, in an edgy 2-1 win over Fiorentina, and has since endured a worrying drought.

The ex-Lille and Sporting attacker will look to wear his scoring boots once again and perhaps replicate or better his two-goal display, which blew Napoli away more than a week ago.

Leao has 11 goals and 10 assists in 37 appearances for Milan this campaign. The Portuguese forward needs three more goals across all competitions to reach his career-best tally of 14, which he set last season.
