Napoli signed Jesper Lindstrom in a flash deal, considering their standards, late in the previous window. However, the transfer had been in the making for a long time, as his lawyer and transfer market operator Emiliano Salvarezza told Tuttomercatoweb.
“We started talking in October 2022 with maximum confidentiality. We had already discussed him when he transferred from Brondby to Eintracht Frankfurt, then their interest lagged, up until they rekindled it.”
Napoli pivoted toward Lindstrom after missing out on Gabri Veiga.
“We accelerated the talks after August 20th. He’s a very pacey and technical player who can star on either flank.”
Lindstrom hasn’t gotten a lot of game time since joining Napoli but vowed to be patient in a recent interview.
“As any footballer, he’d like to log 100 minutes in every match. However, I don’t want to go into detail about tactical matters. You’d have to speak with his agent about that. I exclusively handled the juridical aspects of his transfer.”
Napoli spent €30M to acquire Lindstrom from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer, but he hasn’t been able to unseat Matteo Politano as the starter on the right wing, plus, the coach often fielded Elijf Elmas over him too. He has appeared in six games thus far, making just one start. His lone goal contribution in 2023/2024 came before he moved to Campania.
