AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli spoke to the media ahead of his side’s weekend clash at Empoli. Having lost their last Serie A match at home to Napoli, Pioli stressed the importance of “restarting on the right foot.”
Ante Rebic is expected to return for the Rossoneri, or at least be available. The Croatian has seen the field just twice this season due to a back injury. Divock Origi will not take part in the match as the Belgian continues to recover from a muscle issue.
Pioli stressed the need for his side to play with intensity and energy. In order to get back to winning ways, the team must “always give their all.” He also touched upon the heavy schedule for Il Diavolo, which will see them play 12 matches in 43 days before the start of the FIFA World Cup this November.
Milan won both fixtures against Empoli last season, winning 4-2 on their last trip to the Castellani. The host’s sole league win this season came last time out, a 1-0 win at Bologna.
