Roma Injury Crisis Not Improving Ahead of UEL Final

Roma will be severely depleted as they face Fiorentina Saturday, and the situation might not be much better come Wednesday when they will take on Sevilla in the Europa League final in Budapest. Paulo Dybala remains a big question mark, and a few other players are banged up as well.

The latest addition to the list is Lorenzo Pellegrini, who turned his ankle in practice. He won’t be available in Serie A but will be good to go midweek, Il Messaggero relays. Leonardo Spinazzola, who’s tending to a thigh problem, is 50/50. Zeki Celik should be fine after dealing with a minor muscular issue in the last couple of weeks.

Mourinho took stock of the Roma infirmary during a media day set up by UEFA (via MetroNews).

“It’s difficult to handle Saturday’s game. I have to rule out players that have dings and bruises because we can’t take any chances. The ideal way to go would be to just skip it.”

“I don’t expect anything from Dybala. It’d be already positive if he could make the bench and help us a little as he did versus Feyenoord. I honestly think he can’t play in Budapest, but I hope I’m proven wrong. I will be happy if he can give me 15/20 minutes. The truth is that he’s not practicing and is unavailable at the moment. He won’t be called up Saturday. The same goes for Pellegrini, but he will play in the final for sure.”

Our Take on Roma

The Special One has often pulled the rabbit out of a hat, but they approach the clash in terrible shape, and they have played just one good game in the past month or so.
