Romagnoli Agrees Five-Year Deal with Boyhood Club Lazio

Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli is set to leave the Rossoneri after seven years after agreeing to sign a long-term contract with the club he supported as a kid. The Roma youth product will sign a five-year contract with the Biancocelesti, putting an end to the 27-year-old’s transfer saga that began circulating since the start of last season.

Details of the bosman transfer deal are currently being finalized. It is understood that his contract will be worth €3.5M net per season including bonuses that are linked to winning the Scudetto and achieving European qualification.

His medical examination is expected to be scheduled for next week as final details of the deal are now being figured out.

The Azzurri center-back was linked heavily with a move to Premier League in recent weeks, with Fulham and Aston Villa both accelerating their respective interest in his services, after links with Lazio had cooled down. However, in the end he had always set his heart on his boyhood club.

Romagnoli started his Serie A career with Roma in the 2012/13 campaign, after which he spent a season on loan at Sampdoria in 2014/15, before going on to spend seven years with Milan at San Siro, where he registered 247 appearances – even captaining them to the Scudetto title last year.
