It was a weekend of international football, where the top National sides in the world squared off for some friendly matches in preparation for the upcoming World Cup. Yes, even those that did not qualify. Serie A consequently took a break, but if you think you are missing your weekly dose of calcio, here is something that will ease your pain as you wait for next weekend’s new football fest –with a juicy Juventus-Milan coming up. Just sit back, relax and enjoy our selection of the Top 3 goals scored in the latest Serie A round:

3) Ivan Perisic in Sampdoria-Inter 0-5
26 minutes into their game, Sampdoria and Inter are still 0-0. Joao Cancelo invents a beautiful lob pass from the right side, the ball falling into the Blucerchiati’s box. Ivan Perisic believes in it and, jumping higher than his direct marker, corrects it to put it past an astonished Emiliano Viviano. It’s the goal that opens the gate of hell for Sampdoria…

2) Seko Fofana in Udinese-Sassuolo 1-2
The most outstanding thing in Seko Fofana’s spectacular equaliser for Udinese, is that nobody from Sassuolo even dares to stop him, as he comfortably gallops across the pitch for 20 meters. When he reaches a comfortable position, his right foot explodes a terrific shot that ends its run in the top right corner of the Neroverdi’s goal. Ok, Fofana, you can now put down the Playstation joypad. Wonderful!

1) Mauro Icardi in Sampdoria-Inter 0-5
The top feat of the week is the second episode of Mauro Icardi’s recent goalfest, the one that brought Inter to 3-0. Ivan Perisic believes in a ball that seems lost, and sends it back in the box from the left. Gian Marco Ferrari tries a desperate slide to anticipate Icardi, but the ball remains there, in the danger zone. That’s when Icardi’s genius, with the Argentinian facing the goal with his back, manifests itself into a lightning-fast heel shot that leaves again no chance to Viviano. 3-0 for Inter, and it’s still not over…
