Inter cruised to a 3-0 victory against Milan in the 2nd leg of the Coppa Italia to register their name in the final against either Juventus or Fiorentina, thanks to a wonderful brace by Lautaro Martinez followed by Robin Gosen’s debut Nerazzurri goal in the final minutes of the clash.
Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi was ecstatic after the final whistle as he spoke to Sport Mediaset in his post-match press conference.
“I think the lads were fantastic. We played a derby of tactical intelligence, hitting them at the right moments. Reaching the Italian Cup final was very important and we deserved it on the pitch,” he said (via FCInterNews).
Inzaghi has already registered his first silverware as the Nerazzurri coach with the Supercoppa Italiana win against Juventus, but is head and heels over his team’s prospects of winning the Scudetto as they trail Milan in second place.
He commented: “This is what we have been working for since July 8. We have won a final, we will have another in twenty days that we really care about, and then we have this final. But first, we are chasing leaders Milan but we want to fight on all fronts.”
Inter trail Milan by two points, sitting at 69 points with a game in hand. They will look to take advantage of the Rossoneri’s recent slip-ups, with Napoli already losing their footing in a disappointing 1-1 draw against Roma.
