Just six competitive matches into the season, Milan is about to reward midfielder Sandro Tonali with an improved contract.
The 22-year-old has played in all but one match for the Rossoneri so far this season. Through 386 minutes of play, the midfielder recorded one assist, coming in last weekend’s derby win over Inter. Since his move from Brescia, the youngster has scored five times and assisted three times in 65 outings.
Having initially joined Milan on loan in 2020, Stefano Pioli’s side bought out Tonali’s contract at the end of the 2020-21 season for €15 million plus €10 million in add-ons. He was ever-present throughout his time with I Biancazzurri, registering 11 goals and 16 assists there. Tonali was also part of the last promotion to the Serie A with Brescia in 2018-19, when they finished on top of Serie B.
With the contract going through to 2027, the Italian international will be in his prime by that point. With his best years still ahead, this is solid business from Milan.
