With Spezia trouncing Milan at the Stadio Alberto Picco, Inter had the chance to go top. Antonio Conte’s men obliged. Romelu Lukaku’s brace and Lautaro Martinez got on the scoreboard to defeat Lazio and take the Nerazzurri top.
The Rossoneri were not the only casualtites of the romantic weekend. Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus also saw defeat against the Partenopei. Meanwhile, Roma overcame their last weekend’s disappointment with a 3-0 win.

Nicolas Viola vs. Bologna
Nicola Sansone opened the scoring in the first minute of the fixture. The hosts should have added to their tally and their wastefullness would cost them. Benevento’s reply came at the hour mark in sublime fashion. Nicolas Viola was the man who put the ball into the net with a back flip after an extended time spent by the Sorcerers in Bologna’s box. Kamil Glik should also be credited for finding his teammate with an expert cross.
Fabio Quagliarella vs. Fiorentina
After disappointing starts to the campaign, both Fiorentina and Sampdoria find themselves knocking on the top-half of the Serie A table. The winning goal came from the boots of 38-year-old Fabio Quagliarella, who started the attack and then put the finishing touches. His first time effort could not be stopped as he entered the record books. The effort made him the second highest goalscorer in La Samp’s history. Not bad for aging forward who can still go the distance.
Luis Muriel vs. Cagliari
Gian Piero Gasperini’s men tried hard but their efforts were rebuffed. La Dea continuously came close but could not get past Alessio Cragno in ten goal attempts. Gasperini and Atalanta’s blushes were spared by super sub Luis Muriel’s 90th minute strike. Moment of magic from the Colombian after taking the ball on the left edge of the box was all that was needed to trouble the scorers.
Adam Ounas vs. Sassuolo
The Neroverdi ended their five match winless run in Serie A. The fans saw Domenico Berardi excellently combine with Francesco Caputo to score in his first game back. But it was the wonderful strike from Adam Ounas that will be etched in the audience’s memory. Ounas weaved through the defenders, one after the other, before sending an unstoppable shot past Andrea Consigli. The Algerian scored a wonderful solo goal and should have finished with an assist too but VAR intervened. Nevertheless, his effort will make the highlights reel of the season.
Simone Bastoni vs. Milan
Stefano Pioli had his first eleven at his disposal but they were unable to breach the Spezia defense. However, the hosts required exceptional play to get on the scoreboard. The second half double strikes were enough to dethrone the league leaders. Giulio Maggiore’s strike was unstoppable but it was Simeone Bastoni who got everyone up from their seats. Gianluigi Donnaruma had no chance to stop the Spezia youth academy graduate’s wonder strike.
