Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci anticipates a difficult match against Juventus in the Derby della Mole as the Granata seek to get back to winning ways following a three-match winless run. Torino were held to a stalemate at home by Hells Verona last time out, whereas the Bianconeri found themselves in a similar rut away at Atalanta.
Ricci spoke to Torino Channel (via Tuttomercatoweb) following the draw against the Gialloblù.
“The team had the desire. We had opportunities that we didn’t materialize and therefore we absolutely have to work on this thing. It was a very physical match on a pitch that didn’t help us express our qualities but it shouldn’t be an alibi because it’s there for the opponents too. The team, from an attitude point of view, was there, and this it’s important. The results will come.”
The first Turin derby of the season will be played on Saturday, and Ricci expects no easy encounter at the Allianz Stadium.
“It will be a difficult match because we are playing in their home. But we have to show that we are Toro, for us it is ‘The Match.’ Both for us and for the fans. All those who support Toro have been waiting for this game for a long time. We have to give the best to honor the shirt.”
While Juventus sit fourth in the league standings with 14 points, Torino find themselves in 10th place with 9 points following a mixed start to the new season.
