Juventus cruised to a 2-0 win in their first pre-season friendly ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, edging Mexican giants Guadalajara thanks to goals from Marco Da Graca and Mattia Compagnon. New signings Angel Di Maria and Paul Pogba both made their respective debuts for the Bianconeri, having arrived on free transfers from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United respectively.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TuttoJuve) after the friendly, Milan legend Arrigo Sacchi commented on both the new entrants. He believes they in great shape ahead of the new season and only increase Juventus’ potential as title contenders.
“The match against the Mexicans was not particularly demanding. But I saw a Di Maria in great shape. On the other hand, he is light, he is a featherweight: it is logical that he is already well advanced in preparation.”
He then spoke about Frenchman Paul Pogba.
“And also Pogba, it seems to me that he has entered without problems. Juve have a lot of quality and experience, so they can build something important. Now it is a question of working to be a team and to have a game that is always up to par.”
Juventus open their Serie A account when they host Sassuolo at the Allianz Stadium on August 16.
