Roma have positively concluded the negotiation to prolong the contract of Lorenzo Pellegrini. Only a few details are missing before the official announcement, which should arrive shortly. The midfielder will sign an extension that runs through 2026. His current deal was up at the end of the season.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Pellegrini will be the second-highest-paid player in the squad behind Tammy Abraham. He will make €4M per year plus bonuses. Despite the short-term expiration date, the Roma management had always displayed major confidence they would eventually come to terms. José Mourinho has heaped high praise on the Italian international on multiple occasions.

The club and the player will put pen-to-paper once the Friedkin family okays it. Pellegrini will double his wages, and therefore ownership has to green-light the investment. The parties had a pivotal meeting early in the week. They settled everything but some secondary aspects like add-ons and image right, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
On top of locking up a key midfielder, Roma have offloaded one they no longer needed. Steven Nzonzi has terminated his contract and officially joined Al-Rayyan. He will be coached by Laurent Blanc. James Rodriguez signed with the Qatari team recently as well. The Giallorossi released the misfit without a severance package and will save €5M on his salary, Sky Sport reports. The 32-year-old played on loan at Galatasaray and Rennes in recent years. He spent just one season in the Italian Capital after a €26.5M transfer from Sevilla in 2018.
