Napoli is closing in on one of the two additions announced by president Aurelio de Laurentiis, as they have come to terms with Aston Villa to onboard Leander Dendoncker, who has surpassed their previous target, Nottingham Forest’s Orel Mangala, as first reported by The Athletic.
The midfielder will join on a season-long loan with a €10M option to buy. He could arrive in Italy for the medicals as soon as Wednesday, Mediaset informs. He has appeared in 15 matches this season, scoring once. He has been at the club since 2022, when he joined from Wolverhampton in an €15M move. The 28-year-old spent the beginning of his career at Anderlecht before transferring to the Premier League.
Napoli will focus on a defender after sealing the deal for Dendoncker. Nehuen Perez remains their favorite option. The Udinese’s resistance is starting to crumble, as the player wants to seize the opportunity.
Per DAZN’s Orazio Accomando, the Partenopei have agreed on a three-year contract with an option with the Argentine. They haven’t concurred on the fee yet. The two clubs could meet in the middle between the previous offer and the request at €17M plus add-ons.
