Official: Lazio Complete Major Attacking Signing

Yesterday, Boulaye Dia became the new Lazio player as the Biancocelesti and Salernitana exchanged paperwork for the Senegalese’s switch to the capital. The 27-year-old striker has joined Marco Baroni’s troops on a two-year loan with an obligation to buy in 2026, penning a contract until 2028.

They announced Dia’s arrival on the club’s official website.

SS Lazio announces that it has acquired the rights of footballer Bboulaye Dia from US Salernitana on a two-year temporary basis, with an obligation to redeem permanently upon the occurrence of certain particular sporting conditions,” the statement read.

Dia’s arrival will reportedly cost Lazio around €12 million. On top of that, the Biancocelesti will send teenage defender Fabio Ruggeri in the opposite direction to sweeten the deal.

The former Villarreal center-forward has joined Lazio in time to make the squad for the opening-day clash against Venezia. Baroni’s touchline debut brings the newly-promoted Serie A team to the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

Dia should fill the void in the final third left by Ciro Immobile’s transfer to Besiktas. He’ll compete with Taty Castellanos for a place in Baroni’s starting XI as Lazio bid to improve on last season’s underwhelming seventh-place finish.

If Dia can reignite the form that saw him tally 16 goals in 33 league outings for Salernitana in 2022/23, he will be a massive coup for Baroni’s team.

In addition to Dia, Lazio have signed five more players this summer. Gaetano Castrovilli and Tijjani Noslin are the most exciting acquisitions. They’re the ones expected to cover for the exits of long-serving stalwarts Luis Alberto and Felipe Anderson.
